Bits & Pieces
A Dog Named Bear
It was with heavy hearts and a lot of tears we said “goodbye” to our beloved Bear.
In recent years we have lost several of our great dogs. For each, I have tried to find the words that would express our feelings for each of them. My efforts in doing that for Bear were somewhat futile. There were no words to describe this incredible friend to hundreds and hundreds of people.
Knowing that a picture is worth a thousand words, I took a few minutes to put together “A Dog Named Bear”. I hope you enjoy it.
Welcome to ScatterGun Lodge and thank you for visiting our Web Page.
Picked as one of the Top Twenty Wingshooting Destinations in the World, we take great pride in providing our guests the Ultimate in South Dakota Pheasant Hunting.
We invite you to take a few moments to share the pictures and words of nationally renowned publisher and writer Steve Smith about why we were chosen.
Our over 3000 acre ranch is divided into more than twenty prime hunting areas. The diverse habitat provides virtually every kind of cover you could imagine, from expansive food plots of sorghum, corn, millet and native grasses to over five miles of winding creek bottom. All of our hunting is less than ten minutes from the front door. Our dogs are best described as unbelievable. We hunt in groups of no more than eight guns offering the finest possible shooting opportunities for every member of your group.
ScatterGun owners Chuck and Sheila Ross have made their year-round home here at the ranch since 2000. They not only designed and built this incredible lodge but more important play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operation of ScatterGun. Chuck and Sheila share a commitment to provide each and every ScatterGun guest the finest possible experience. For them this is not a job but truly a dream come true.
